Morgellons is a Foreign Body Reaction to Non-Absorbable Sutures left inside the body during surgical procedures
Recent studies and careful patient examination have determined that permanent sutures (Polypropylene, Nylon, Catgut, etc) left inside the human body over long periods of time cause a FBR (Foreign Body Reaction) which produces the symptoms of what is called "Morgellons Disease".
These symptoms include itchy skin, crawling sensations, rashes, open lesions, brain fog, chronic fatigue, keratin fibers, among others.

Morgellons is Not Related to Lyme Disease, it is 100% Iatrogenic
Morgellons patients go to numerous doctors and undergo countless medical tests such as blood tests, MRIs, CT Scans, allergy tests, etc, looking for the cause and cure of their symtpoms.
Usually every medical exam comes back within normal parameters,
this prompts medical professionals to label morgellons sufferers as delusional, diagnosing them with mental disorders such as Delusional Parasitosis; despite the obvious physical lesions, rashes and colorful fibers growing out of the skin.
The medical community in general has labeled the physical symptoms of Morgellons Disease as self inflicted wounds made by the patients themselves, insisting they suffer from a mental disorder.
Despite medical exams such as immunoglobulin tests showing no sign of bacterial or fungal infections, in recent years some have claimed Morgellons Disease is a rare manifestation of Lyme Disease.
This is not the case. The following are the main reasons why Lyme Disease is not Related to Morgellons Disease:
- Morgellons Disease Symptoms are highly symmetrical while Lyme Disease Symptoms are not. Morgellons symptoms are present from head to toes whereas Lyme Disease Smyptoms present with different intensity in different parts of the body: one knee will hurt more than the other, one joint is going to be more swollen, etc. Psoriasis is a non pathogenic condition that is also very symmetrical: the lesions are present in both hands, both feet, both arms, etc. This is because the immune system is malfunctioning and creating lesions everywhere it is present, which is the entire body from head to toes. Symptoms that are present evenly all across the body are usually autoimmune conditions.
- Morgellons Disease Symptoms -in some patients- get better over time and even disappear completely, in other cases the symptoms disappear only to return again after weeks, months or years. Lyme Disease -as with every infectious disease- if untreated gets worse and worse over time, it does not disappear and come back randomly. If the immune system does not eliminate the pathogen completely from the body, the disease will not go away on its own.
- Morgellons Disease is present in places where there are no ticks. You need to be bitten by a specific type of tick in order to contract Lyme Disease (Ixodes Genus). There are Morgellons sufferers in tick free countries. Most literature and communities of morgellons patients are composed of english speakers who live in the Northern Hemisphere where Lyme Disease is rampant, they do not hear about Morgellons in tick free countries because of the language barrier, this creates the illusion that Morgellons Disease is only present in places where ticks are present.
- Morgellons Disease is a very new condition -named only in 2002-. While there is centuries old literature about mental disorders, hallucinations and even delusional parasitosis, there is no specific record of colorful fibers growing out of unusual places on the skin. Lyme Disease was identified as a bacterial infection in the 1980s but it has been around for millenia. Because its symptoms mimmick other diseases it was only recently recognized as an indepedent disease, this is why Lyme Disease is also called "The New Great Imitator". Surgery became safer and widespread in the XXth century, which is also when synthetic permanent sutures where invented and got the approval to be used in the human body: Nylon in the 1940s, Polypropylene in the 1960s. The second half of the XXth Century is coincidentally when the first cases of Morgellons Disease start to appear.
- There is no external pathogen present in Morgellons Disease patients. With a scanning electron microscope or even a simple culture and stain test the Lyme Disease spirochete bacteria is clearly visible: in other words, we can see the actual pathogen causing the disease. In the case of Morgellons, no microscope or stain test will reveal any previously unknown pathogen, this is because all of the Morgellons symptoms are caused by the immune system acting up, it is not fighting any real pathogen, only reacting to a foreign synthetic material. After months and years go by, the white blood cells go haywire and begin to attack healthy tissue; causing lesions, itching, rashes and fibers to grow from the damaged hair follicles.
Any foreign material implanted inside the human body will elicit an immune response over a long period time, this immune disturbance can manifest in many different forms: granuloma, itching, skin rashes, or the symptoms of Morgellons Disease. Removing synthetic foreign materials from inside the body is key to restoring the immune system and maintaining homeostasis.
